The world is warming up for another crisis. An irreversible one.

Global Pandemics have occurred in the past, at a heavy human cost. However, they have eventually been suppressed through the ingenuity of immunity and medical innovation. The reality is that outbreaks similar to COVID-19 happen every few decades, but humanity always finds a way to manage it, and in doing so, makes a way forward. This one too, like those in the past will pass. It is only a matter of time.

But the climate battle that lies ahead of us does not draw any parallels or a comparable precedent. For decades, scientists have warned us of an irreversible chain-reaction that will set in motion a series of consequences that turns nature against us – if we carry on business-as-usual.

How did we get here?

No civilisation in history has sacrificed the very balance of our fragile biosphere at the altar of growth. Our economy is plugged into heat-trapping, carbon-based fossil fuels that have resulted in the hottest years the earth has witnessed till date. In fact, the last 5 years have been the 5 hottest ones on record in the planet’s 4.5 billion year history. Let that sink in for a moment.

Our water cycles have been thrown off kilter because our glaciers at the poles are melting into the oceans. You don’t need a PhD to understand that as a result, our cities will be drowning by the end of the century. Day Zero in Cape Town, Cyclones in Bengal and Tamil Nadu, Hurricanes in the West, Bushfires in Australia, devastating floods in East Africa and sea level rise in our coastal metropolises. These are the most recent and direct warnings of a warming planet. They are not random events, but interconnected consequences of our addiction to carbon-based fuels and the emissions that result. (See: HTTPS://WWW.YOUTUBE.COM/WATCH?V=RYX9AHQCEAI&T=24S) We lose over 200 species to climate extinction every day. This is a crisis that should be front and centre to our survival as a species.

Hope is near

Human ingenuity has always prevailed in the face of adversity and this time too, technology has delivered. Clean energy solutions are available, Electric Vehicles are hitting the roads and inspiring progress has been made all over the world through sustainable innovation across industries. As a human enterprise, we embed our mission in Climate Action. As a millennial-generation company we are proponents of technology that moves humanity forward. When you choose to produce your own clean energy in your home, you vote to keep fossil fuels in the ground. A 10 kW system prevents 300 tons of CO2 from being emitted into the atmosphere and replaces nearly 17,00,000 kms of driving.  In the process, you directly impact plants, animals and restore balance in our ecosystems.

Good decisions are made when social objectives align with incentives to do so. Our calling as a company is to accelerate the adoption of cost-effective sustainable energy. We also believe that Saving Earth from this impending crisis will take a coordinated effort that will impact our lifestyles and consumption far beyond energy. Let’s commit to keeping it clean.
